THE LET’S BETTER MOTTOES ASSOCIATION, INC.
As part of one of its rare forays into economics, the Let’s Have Better Mottoes Association, Inc. ‘s official board has chosen a motto submitted this month by Bill Anderson:
POVERTY IS CHATCHING
you can get it from your wife
The motto will be conspicuously displayed as the icing on the prize-winning lemon cake at our annual picnic on the 18th. Ladies are particularly invited and even wives are admitted. However, husbands of female members will be well advised to stay home.
A vacation is what you take when you can’t take what you’ve been taking any longer.
Taking his cue from this month’s motto, Joe has turned his attention to the world of business. His astonishing discoveries include such intelligence as: a) an expert knows just about as much as you do but but is better organized and uses slides; b) punctuality at meetings is the art of guessing how late the rest of the committee will be; c) that the computer has revolutionized business… there are just as many mistakes as ever but now they’re nobody’s fault; and d) free advice is worth every cent it costs.
Money won’t buy love but it sure puts you in better field position.
Other mottoes which lost out but probably bear repetition if only because of the weather include: “I’M NEVER TOO BUSY TO SAY GOODBYE,” FROM George Bucko; “A CLEAN DESK IS THE SIGN OF A SRIGHTENED MAN,” from John Eckels, and “IT IS MORE BLESSED TO GIVE, THEN RECEIVE,” from R. F. DeLay.
Business is what if you don’t have enough of you get out of.
Cordially,
Secretary
